Nooku is going GPLv3

Last July the question was raised in the Nooku Community about moving to the GPLV3 license. Today I am very pleased to announce (official announcement) that we are adopting the GPLv3,  LGPLv3 and AGPLv3 licences for all future releases of Nooku. Versions previous to 0.7 remain under the GPLv2.

The move to GPLv3 is designed to suit the needs of Free Software in a developer market that is clearly demanding more flexibility and protection of each individuals’ rights.

I recommend you take the time to read this guide on the GPLv3 so as to gain a clearer understanding of both your rights and your obligations under this license.

I would like to thank Richard Stallman, Eben Moglen and the Free Software Foundation for creating the GPL license, and for their continious efforts towards software freedom.

As Benjamin Mako Hill, FSF board member said :

A strong free software movement focused on the principled issues of software freedom will determine what freedoms the next generation of computer users enjoy. At stake is no less than the next generation’s autonomy.

I couldn’t agree more and hope that Nooku can help towards strengthening the Free Software movement.
